In many developing countries
such as Saudi Arabia the adoption of cloud computing is still at an early
stage. This research aims to investigate the influencing factors in the
decision to adopt cloud computing in the private sector. An integrated model
is proposed incorporating critical factors derived from a literature review,
along with other factors (such as physical location) that have not been
examined in previous studies as main factors in the organisation’s decision
to adopt cloud services. Data were collected from 300 IT staff in different
organisations in the private sector in Saudi Arabia, in order to test the
cloud adoption model and explore factors that were positively or negatively
associated with cloud adoption. The most influential determinants of cloud
adoption were found to be quality of service and trust. However, security and
privacy concerns still prevent cloud adoption in this country. This study
also showed that the effect of these variables differed according to
organisation size and in adopter and non-adopter companies. Overall, these
research findings provide valuable guidelines to cloud providers, managers,
and government policy makers on ways of encouraging the spread of cloud
computing in Middle Eastern countries and increasing its implementation,
particularly in Saudi Arabia.

Towards an Integrated Conceptual Model for Cloud Adoption in
Saudi Arabia
|
ملخص المشاركة:
|
There are several advantages of
utilising cloud computing in organisations such as cost saving and
flexibility in acquiring resources. The use of cloud computing in developing
countries, such as Saudi Arabia, is still in its early stages and has not
been as widely adopted there as in developed countries. In fact, moving a
current system to the cloud depends on many factors that may affect a Saudi
Arabian organisation’s decision to adopt the cloud. In order to encourage the
adoption of cloud technology it is essential to understand why some
enterprises are more prepared than others to move to the cloud. Hence, the
aim of this research is to examine factors that might impact on a Saudi
Arabian organisation’s intention to adopt cloud computing. In this paper, we
propose a conceptual model which integrates aspects of the Technology
Organisation Environment (TOE) framework. The proposed model identifies the
key factors that might influence organisations to employ cloud services. Our
findings show that all the proposed factors in the cloud adoption model,
except for competitive pressure and trading partner pressure, are statically
significant.

An Integrated Model
to Investigate an Individual’s Behavioural Towards using Cloud Computing
|
ملخص المشاركة:
|
Cloud computing technology can
bring benefits at both individual level and organisational level, for
example, flexibility and cost saving. However, there is a lack of empirical
studies that examine the usage of cloud computing technology from an
individual’s perspective. In fact, the adoption of cloud services in Middle
Eastern counties like Saudi Arabia is still low compared with developed
countries. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the end users’
behavioural towards using cloud computing services in Saudi Arabia. In this
paper, we propose an integrated model in an attempt to understand
individuals’ attitudes and to identify the key factors that might impact on
their behaviour to use cloud technology services. The proposed model
integrates the critical factors from technology adoption theories Technology
Acceptance Model (TAM) and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology
(UTAUT), along with other factors to examine the effect of these variables on
end users’ behaviour.

An investigation of
factors influencing an organisation’s intention to adopt cloud computing
|
ملخص المشاركة:
|
Cloud computing is a paradigm
for providing and delivering IT services over the Internet. The cloud can
provide several benefits for organisations including cost reduction and
flexibility. However, migrating an existing system to the cloud is not an
easy task because it is dependent on a number of factors. Therefore, this
research aims to investigate the factors that may influence an organisation’s
intention to adopt cloud computing in Saudi Arabia. We proposed an integrated
model in an attempt to understand why some organisations are willing to move
to the cloud while others are not. This model incorporates aspects of the
Technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE) framework with integrating the
critical factors from existing theories (Diffusion of Innovations (DOI) and
institutional theory) and other influential factors.

Factors affecting an
organisation’s decision to adopt cloud services in Saudi Arabia
|
ملخص المشاركة:

The adoption of cloud technology
in Saudi Arabia is still in its early stages and shifting the current set-up
to the cloud is not a simple task. This study aims to investigate the factors
that might affect a Saudi Arabian organisation’s decision to employ cloud
services. In this paper we propose an integrated model that identifies the
key factors that might impact on an enterprise’s intention to adopt cloud
technology. In order to assess the proposed model for cloud adoption,
quantitative research methods were used in this study. The results of the
survey reveal that only 16 factors affect cloud computing adoption. These
factors are: availability, reliability, security, privacy, trust, relative
advantage, compatibility, trial ability, top management support, organisation
size, technological readiness, compliance with regulations, physical
location, external support, industry, and culture.

Factors Influencing an Organisation’s Intention to Adopt Cloud Computing
in Saudi Arabia
|
ملخص المشاركة:
|
Cloud computing is paradigm that
has emerged to deliver IT services to consumers as a utility service over the
Internet. In developing countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, cloud computing
is still not widely adopted. As a result, this study seeks to investigate the
most influential factors that can encourage an organisation to use the cloud
or which might impede them from moving to it. This research proposes an
integrated model that incorporates aspects of the
Technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE) framework and integrates the
critical factors from existing theories along with other factors to examine
the impact of this variable on the adoption decision of enterprises. Future
work will be focused on confirming the proposed model.
