Helen Eastham has been Head of the International Students Advisory Service for five years at the University of Birmingham and is responsible for non-European Economic Area students and visitors coming to the University to undertake study. Her role includes adaptation and adjustment of international students and also delivery of specific projects and activities that enable better engagement and understanding between Home and International students which build on the importance of being ‘global students’.
Prior to working at Birmingham, Helen worked at Queens University Belfast and University of Central Lancashire. In both Institutions she worked with International and Home Students and worked with staff and students to maximise the ‘global’ experience.
Over the years Helen has worked closely with agencies such as UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA), Universities UK (UUK), the British Council and the Home Office (UKVI) to develop and enhance mechanisms for supporting international students.
