Wireless Sensor Network devices are characterized by resource constraints such as computational power, memory and energy. Since these devices are powered by batteries, it may not be possible to replace batteries for recharging and therefore, energy harvesting techniques such as Piezoelectric and Thermoelectric can be used if necessary so that the lifetime of these devices can be extended. This paper presents power management for energy harvesting over LEACH protocol. Experimental results based on the NS-3 simulation platform has shown that Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) routing protocol improves the energy efficiency for Piezoelectric energy harvesting in aircraft compared to that of direct simulation.

موجز عن البحث:

LTspice is a popular and free circuit simulating package while NS-3 is an open source network simulator. Integrating these two popular simulation packages is an ideal scenario where an output from LTspice such as power can be an input to network modules in NS-3. The aim of this paper is, therefore, to integrate LTspice and NS-3 simulators in order to forge a strong research collaboration between two domains (electronics and networking). The integration of these simulators have be evaluated and validated by using power management use case in energy harvesting. Preliminary results based on Fuzzy control logics for the power management system have shown that the integration to be effective. The downtime ratio and energy efficiency utilization were preferable compared to the scenario where fuzzy control system was not implemented.

Integrated Power Management For Energy Harvesters In Aircraft

ملخص المشاركة:

So far energy harvesting techniques in aircraft have been proposed in isolation. In this paper we propose a novel Markov chain based integrated approach for energy harvesting in aircraft. The experimental results based on simulation results have shown that integrating Piezoelectric and Thermoelectric harvesters performs better in terms of packet loss probability than individual Thermoelectric and Piezoelectric harvesters in isolation over wireless sensor networks.
