This Paper investigates the potential benefits of e-procurement
adoption in Saudi Arabian SMEs. The study’s theoretical foundation is built
on Gunasekaran and Ngai’s (2009) model of e-procurement adoption, applied to
the south-east coast of the USA. It includes an extensive literature review
on e-procurement adoption to investigate further factors in the benefits
category. The study uses both
qualitative and quantitative tools to collect data from four selected Saudi
Arabian SMEs to identify potential benefits in relation to e-procurement
adoption. It also investigates the relative importance of various perceived
benefit factors in Saudi Arabian SMEs using the Analytic Hierarchy Process.

This paper investigates the potential barriers to
e-procurement adoption in Saudi Arabian SMEs. The study builds its
theoretical foundation on Gunasekaran and Ngai’s (2009) model of
e-procurement adoption in SMEs on the south-east coast of the USA, which it
applies to the Saudi Arabian SMEs to determine their barriers to the adoption
of e-procurement. Data was collected from a number of staff from four selected
Saudi Arabian SMEs using both qualitative and quantitative tools. This study
looks at a number of barriers and analyses their relative importance using
hierarchical analytic process.

e-procurement adoption in SMEs extending Gunasekara and Ngai (2009) Model. The
study builds its theoretical foundation on Gunasekaran and Ngai’s (2009)
model of e-procurement adoption in SMEs in the south-east coast of the USA,
which it extends to apply to Saudi Arabian SMEs to determine how cultural
factors influence the adoption of e-procurement in SMEs. Qualitative research
(interviews) was conducted to find cultural factors that affect the adoption
of e-procurement in selected Saudi Arabian SMEs. The study found that culture

of E-procurement in Saudi Arabian’s SMEs ☆
|
ملخص المشاركة:
|
This paper investigates and discusses external
factors for the adoption of e-procurement. The research has modified
Gunasekaran and Ngai (2009) model to fit external factors and has been used
as a theoretical foundation for the research. An extensive literature review
has been conducted to evaluate external factors and Qualitative methodology
(interview) has been adopted to get an insight into the external factors
specific to Saudi Arabian perspectives. The study found nine external factors
relevant to adoption of e-procurement in Saudi Arabian SMEs which are
government Support, own postal addresses and delivery service, providing
secure and trustworthy online payment options, low cost and high speed
internet connection, IT-related educational programs, supplier’s willingness
and readiness to participate or exert pressure, competitor’s pressure, policy
and regulations and Business and national culture of the country.
