A conceptual multi-agent framework based on
a knowledge-based collaborative decision support is proposed in this paper to
design hybrid intelligent decision support systems (HIDSS) based on policy
settings for the support of intelligent and pro-active decision making
activities. An example of HIDSS has been developed to support the design and
configuration of small wireless sensor networks (WSN). A WSN prototype is
designed in this research to supply real time environmental and context
related data and decision knowledge to emergency response applications
specifically in the domain of civil defense. Its integration in the HIDSS is
essential for the interactive support of all the decision making process
phases, and will contribute to enhance the quality and the scope of automated
individual and group decision making in emergency preparedness and response
applications. This automation is based on the concept of Just In Time
Knowledge Management (JITKM) enabled by the use of WSNs. The conceptual
framework is firstly presented after a brief definition of the problem and
design requirements focusing on both organizational and technical
perspectives, in the context of inter-organizational activities performed in
a complex and dynamic management environment.
Then the solution developed for the design
and configuration of the WSN is succinctly described. It consists of
eliciting the sensing requirements translated into the homogenous sensor node
specifications, localizing these sensor nodes using a pre-planning process
and configuring them prior to their deployment. The configuration
characteristics of the homogenous and heterogeneous sensor nodes are
presented in terms of policy settings for the definition of the WSN
architecture. Results from the case study are finally presented to illustrate
the implementation of the solution in emergency preparedness for fire
detection.

Communication is the way people can achieve creating
awareness in others who need particular information so that they can respond
to situations. Sometimes, the need for information can demand that
communication should happen within a very short time and in efficient media
so that the involved can be able to respond to it. The analysis of the
functioning of the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) indicates the various
issues that affect the communication and how it can be mitigated.

The use of variety of data fusion tools and
techniques for big data processing poses the problem of the data and
information integration called data fusion having objectives which can differ
from one application to another. The design of network data fusion systems
aimed at meeting these objectives; need to take into account of the necessary
synergy that can result from distributed data processing within the data
networks and data centers, involving increased computation and communication.
This papers reports on how this processing distribution is functionally
structured as configurable integrated web-based support services, in the
context of an ad-hoc wireless sensor network used for sensing and tracking,
in the context of distributed detection based on complete observations to
support real rime decision making. The interrelated functional and hardware
RFID-WSN integration is an essential aspect of the data fusion framework that
focuses on multi-sensor collaboration as an innovative approach to extend the
heterogeneity of the devices and sensor nodes of ad-hoc networks generating a
huge amount of heterogeneous soft and hard raw data. The deployment and
configuration of these networks require data fusion processing that includes
network and service management and enhances the performance and reliability
of networks data fusion support systems providing intelligent capabilities
for real-time control access and fire detection.

A novel intelligent decision support system
(IDSS) based on policy settings is proposed in this paper. This work supports
the design and configuration of small wireless sensor networks (WSN) used to

This integrated system is advocated to
enhance the quality and the scope of automated individual and group decision

Using hybrid WSN approach and intelligent decision support systems for
fire detection and mitigation in smart buildings
|
ملخص المشاركة:
|
Intelligent decisions support systems are
advocated to assist organisations in the design and implementation of
wireless sensor networks (WSNs) to use in surveillance activities in general,
and fire detection and mitigation in particular. The architecture of these
WSNs varies greatly depending on the integration of the planning and the
surveillance control activities. Their implementation will be evaluated using
success factors which are the improvement of the network reliability, the
interaction between the network nodes and the integration of the network
devices, and also the increase of the process automation and the system
responsiveness.
The solution presented in the research
shown in this poster is based on some key principles which are the full
automation of the sensor nodes localisation, the configuration and
reconfiguration of the WSN, the self configuration of sensor nodes by active
sensor nodes, and the WSN management. It is based on the use of a hybrid WSN
configuration composed primarily of homogenous sensor nodes grouping
individually a set of sensors appropriately chosen to meet the sensing needs
at the place of the sensor node deployment. Heterogeneous devices including
opening and closing control mechanisms for doors and windows, people
counters, tracking and video cameras, and sprinklers controllers, are
integrated in the WSNs configuration to enable the integration of the
surveillance control activities for a real time decision making.
This solution aims at using a hybrid WSN approach
for supporting multi-distributed system architectures enabling flexible and
adaptive network configuration capabilities for sensor nodes and auxiliary
devices deployment through the integration of intelligent agents and service
composition to support the required
policy change when reacting and adapting to the environment changes.
The research has been conducted using a
methodology which consisted first at eliciting the context applications
sensing and control requirements turned into WSN specifications to produce
the network characteristics configuration and deployment specifications.
These elements are then used as the basis to design the network architecture
and derive the intelligent decision support system specifications. A case
study has been used to implement and evaluate the different aspects of the
methodology.
This research has created a conceptual
framework for the study of the main WSNs issues and the implementation of the
support system specifications.
